Spring ball will start the last week in April and run into the middle of June. Each team will play approximately 16 games plus practices.
There are two divisions for softball this spring Peanuts (7-8) and Minors (9-10).
The total team count will be driven by field availability and the number of managers that volunteer. If you would like to manage or coach please select that option during the volunteering section of the website.
For more info about each division, please go to the About LGP page. https://www.lgplittleleague.com/aboutlgpll
Special notes about a few divisions:
Open to boys and girls ages 4+. Players hit a safety ball off of an adjustable batting tee. No score is kept. Basic game rules are taught and players are rotated among the different fielding positions.
Players hit a ball pitched by their Coach; Players are pitched to until they hit the ball fair, though an adjustable tee will be brought in when there has been a number of swings without contact. No walks or strikeouts are recorded. Traditionally, outs are not recorded but players forced or tagged out leave the playing field. Once a team bats through their order, the half inning is over. Basic game rules are taught and players are rotated among the different fielding positions. Emphasis is on basic game play.
Players can demonstrate the following skills:
1) Throw a baseball at least 40' on the fly.
2) Consistently catch a thrown baseball.
3) Make consistent contact at the plate.
4) Has general baseball knowledge and shows in-game awareness.
Rookies is more developmental than Coach Pitch. Score is kept but records are not. The Rookies level is the first level played with balls, strikes, and outs along with kids pitching and playing catcher. A coach pitches if a batter gets four balls or hit by pitch (there are no walks but there are strikeouts). The inning ends when a team gets 3 outs or scores 5 runs. Games are scheduled for four innings. Players are encouraged to play all positions over the course of the season.
